After I left Antelope Canyon, I posted on Instagram that it might have been one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, and a week removed from the trip, that thought still holds. The tours of the canyon take you about 100 feet underground into a canyon carved over millions of years by periodic flooding through the area. Be sure to watch when the guide shows you a video of what a flash flood looks like, too. It’s a terrifying testament to the power of nature.
As the Navajo nation is still slowly removing Covid restrictions, the tour was limited capacity in March 2022, which made for an excellent viewing and photo experience. The guide with the company I chose (Ken’s Tours) was incredibly helpful giving photo tips and sharing the experiences of the Navajo people and his cultural heritage.
One tip to keep in mind: the cell phone towers in the area, which is right on the Utah/Arizona border, will often not reflect the accurate time as Arizona does not follow Daylight Savings time. Check carefully to see what time it is!
